Changes in the competitive environment since the 1990s, and the ongoing liberalization and globalization have made competitiveness and the ‘drive towards excellence’ a central part of any organizational strategy. The profitable growth of an organization is dependent on the performance of the individuals within the organization. Central to performance appraisal is the principle that good performers be distinguished from, rewarded better, and valued more than average and below average performer(s). 

As an essential function of ensuring that an organization’s goals and objectives are achieved, performance appraisal needs to be integrated into all stages of the management process. Careful management is needed, particularly in those cases where the performance is below par, so as not to undermine the employment relationship. 


It offers the participants an opportunity to engage in a variety of managerial situations to understand and develop their skills in applying the principles.

A critical component of the course is role play and case studies driven learning, to ensure that the participants go beyond the theoretical discussions and apply their learning to real-world situations.
